Les Menhirs de Monteneuf

An exceptional site

You are here:

An alignment with 42 standing stones in the heart of moorland, 400 standing stones, hidden under a sea of heathers and gorse...

You’ll be amazed by the mysterious Monteneuf standing stones, on the edge of the forest of Brocéliande: These stones were erected 6500 years ago by our ancestors, what are they trying to tell us?

Your task will be to find this out with the help of the guides and archaeologists who will suggest visits and activities that are both fun and based on science.

You will go back in time to the prehistoric period, and learn to do what our ancestors did: for example light a fire, make a pot, and raise a standing stone.

Cartography

Along a footpath in the moorland, you will lose yourself dreaming about the thousands of men and women who, since the dawn of time have taken the same path as you through the moorland. And the standing stones will seem to be simply as they are today, in their protected setting, in the heart of the Landes de Monteneuf regional nature reserve.

There is open access to the site with no charge throughout the year so you can explore the discovery trail, a reconstruction of a Neolithic house, a place where standing stones were made, and understand the history des Monteneuf standing stones.

Path suitable for pushchairs.
